Filed September 22, 2022

What is wrong. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Cadillac XT5, XT6, and GMC Acadia vehicles equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature. The rearview camera coaxial cable connectors may have been crimped improperly, causing the rearview camera to fail or function intermittently.

What could happen. An inoperative rearview camera can reduce the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

The fix. Dealers will replace the coaxial cables, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 18, 2023. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N222378380.

Check that your car is on the list

Most campaigns cover only cars built in a certain date range or at a certain plant, so a 2021 GMC Acadia may or may not be included. The VIN is the only sure test. It is 17 characters, on the dashboard by the windshield and on the driver door jamb sticker. Look up your VIN.

How to confirm the repair is free

If you already paid for a repair that a recall later covered, GMC may owe you a refund. Ask the dealer or GMC customer service about reimbursement, and keep your receipts.
