This is the range for the most common fix, fuel pump replacement. Which repair your car needs depends on a proper diagnosis.
The fuel level sender is a float inside the tank that tells the computer and your gauge how much fuel is left. It is sending a signal near the full end of its range that makes no sense, such as staying full. That can also upset the vapor leak tests that need a certain fuel level.

P0463 questions
Is the sender separate from the pump?
On many cars the sender is part of the fuel pump module, so the tank is lowered or the rear seat is moved to reach it. Ask whether the repair involves replacing the whole module or only the sender.
Will I run out of gas?
It is a real risk when the gauge is stuck on full. Use your trip meter and fill up at regular distances based on your usual mileage, so you are never relying on the gauge alone.
Is it urgent?
Not mechanically, because the engine runs the same, but it matters in practice since you cannot trust the gauge. It can also set vapor system codes, so do not leave it for a long time.
